The Imperial Effect

I had heard of Imperial Coffee Shop Lounge Bar quite a bit on social media as well as from a friend. Located across the street from Shangrila Hotel, Imperial is a multi-cuisine outlet serving varieties of food and focuses on the ever popular bar and live music scene. The place has definitely aimed to incorporate the ‘hangout’ culture that seems to be growing within the city.

After days of ‘maybe tomorrow’ and ‘I’ll visit next week’, I was finally able to check out the place. Mostly because I just happened to be in the area and it was starting to rain. One can’t really miss the place while looking for it. They’ve done a good job of getting easily spotted. Since it was a mid-afternoon when I visited, the place seemed relatively empty. Given that they put a good amount of focus on weekend chilling and live music I am not surprised. The staff seemed very active; always keeping busy with something. I was promptly presented with their menu and glass of water after I made myself comfortable.

Looking through their menu, their multi-cuisine food variety was seen evidently. Since it was an afternoon I decided on getting an Oreo shake and a Chicken steak; a boneless chicken breast served with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The Oreo shake took about 10-12 minutes to arrive, whereas the chicken steak took a bit longer than I had expected. Nevertheless, I found the food quite satisfying. I liked the inclusion of an actual Oreo on top of the Oreo shake. It was a really good touch. The shake was quite flavorful and definitely quenched my thirst on the humid rainy afternoon.

The Chicken steak had a good presentation and plating. Despite the portion size, the dish actually made me full. The texture and the taste of the chicken was average at best but the mashed potatoes were a game changer for me. The taste and flavor of the potatoes complimented the chicken by quite a bit. Overall, the dish was quite satisfying. Although after looking at their menu in more detail, I would have rather ordered their Imperial platters. Maybe that will be my choice for the next visit.

Additionally, Imperial Coffee Shop Lounge Bar also offers a 10% discount on your total bill after presenting the My City Pulse app.
